If there's one thing Auburn football teaches us, it's that you never quite know what might happen next.
On October 17, Auburn traveled to Athens and defeated No. 1 Georgia, 27–24, with a 34-yard field goal from Alex McPherson as time expired. It was Auburn's first win in Athens since 2005 and the kind of finish that reminds fans why they keep believing.
It's that spark Auburn fans know is always there—the one we hope to see catch fire every season.
The Celebration Didn't Stay in Athens
Back home, Auburn fans headed straight to Toomer's Corner. The trees were rolled, crowds filled downtown, and toilet paper stretched through the branches and down the surrounding streets. By the end of the night, parts of downtown looked as though they'd been covered in snow.
One of my favorite things about Auburn football is that a victory hundreds of miles away can still bring the community together right here at home.
And with three more road games ahead, there's still plenty to look forward to.
Oxford, Mississippi — October 31
Oxford is worth visiting beyond the football game. The historic Square is filled with restaurants, shops, and beautiful architecture, while the Grove is one of college football's best-known tailgating traditions.
If you're spending the weekend, leave time to explore downtown rather than heading straight to the stadium.
Starkville, Mississippi — November 14
Starkville offers a classic college-town experience, with local restaurants, shops, and the distinctive Cotton District near campus.
And if you've never been to Davis Wade Stadium, be prepared for the cowbells. They're as much a part of Mississippi State football as rolling Toomer's Corner is to Auburn.
Tuscaloosa, Alabama — November 28
The final regular-season road trip is the Iron Bowl, and Auburn fans hardly need an explanation of what makes that one important.
Tuscaloosa is close enough for a day trip, but staying overnight gives you time to explore downtown, the Riverwalk, or the university campus. Avenue Pub is one downtown restaurant worth considering if you're making a weekend of it.
There's Still Football to Play
The Georgia victory gave Auburn fans a moment to remember, but the season isn't over.
Three road games, three different college towns, and another Iron Bowl are still ahead.
War Eagle!
